Pilots examine the wing of P-38G "Daisy 2nd" at Fighter 2 on Guadalcanal
On March 29, 1943 piloted by 1st Lt. Rex Barber and while strafing a destroyer [sic Subchaser CH-28] damaged in collision with radio mast that damaged the left wingtip. (Standing left to right): 1st Lt. Eben Dale (VMF-124); Captain Robert Petit (70th FS), Lt. Josmmeph Moore (339th FS), touching damaged wing 1st Lt. Rex T. Barber (339th FS), 1st Lt. George G. Topoll (70th FS) and kneeling Captain Thomas G. Lanphier, Jr. (70th FS)
