References Facebook - South Pacific WWII Museum Albums P38 posted October 29, 2016 "Today, we need to cerebrate for the collection of the P38 wreck from South Santo for the museum. This P38 was crashed near Bomber 3 during the war, 70 plus years later, the land owner decided to move it to South Santo cattle project, since then the farm was sold to Milai plantation with the wreck, was sitting in their land. Last year Mr Nicholas Lee, the owner of the Milai plantation kindly donated the wreck to the WW2 Museum. Before the museum members to remove the wreckage, a businessman from France tried to purchase it from the land owner not knowing about the law of Vanuatu that any item older than 50 years are not allow to taken out from the country without permission from the culture center. We were able to stop to it, and Mr Bradly Wood the chairperson of the museum association had a meeting with the landowners and they all agreed for us to keep the wreck for the museum. We finally moved the wreck to the secure location today. Big thanks Mr Nicholas Lee of Milai plantation to donated the wreck and to Mr Brad and staff of Santo Hardware to use their time and the transport and equipment. Luckily, we found the serial number of the plane. LOCKHEED AIRCRAFT BURRANK CORP CALIFORNIA SERIAL NO : 1911040 ASSEM NO : 248722" Contribute
