Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Curtiss-Wright number 1025 (CW-1025). Constructors Number 19751. Originally intended for the Royal Air Force (RAF) as Kittyhawk Mark IA serial number ET564. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40E-1 Warhawk serial number 41-35918. Wartime History On April 4, 1942 disassembled and shipped overseas as part of lend-lease to the Soviet Union. Assigned to the Voenno-Vozdushnye Sily (VSS), wartime history unknown. This P-40 was abandoned in the Soviet Union. Wreckage During 1992, salvaged and exported from Russia. Restoration This P-40 was purchased by Gerald Yagen / Fighter Factory / Training Services Inc. Shipped to New Zealand During 2001-2003, restored by AvSpec Ltd to airworthy condition. Painted in the markings of American Volunteer Group (AVG) replacement aircraft, P-40E Warhawk 41-5658 side number 108. Afterwards, shipped to Virginia Beach, VA. First flight during April 2003. On April 4, 2003 registered with the FAA as N1941P. Part of the collection displayed at Military Aviation Museum and makes appearances at regional air shows.
