Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 29713. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40N-10-CU Warhawk serial number 42-105951. Disassembled and shipped to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 49th Fighter Group (49th FG), 7th Fighter Squadron (7th FS) "Screamin' Demons" to pilot Captain Carl L. Aubrey. Wreckage This P-40 was abandoned at Tadji Airfield. Recovery During 1974, recovered from Tadji Airfield during the salvage operation funded by David Tallichet / Yesterday's Air Force (MARC) and was loaded on a barge with other salvaged planes and transported to Lae then exported overseas. Storage This aircraft was split into two sections. The wings are stored in New Zealand. The fuselage went to the United States and was stored in Barstow and later Chino Airport.
