|Pilot Sgt Maxwell Robert Walker, 417682 (KIA, BR) Burra, SA
Crashed August 5, 1943
On March 6, 1942 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) at Bankstown Airfield.
On March 7, 1942 the aircraft took off from Bankstown Airfield on a ferry flight to Townsville to join 75 Squadron but crashed at 4:30pm near Kempsey, NSW, killing the pilot, P/O Lloyd Henry Holliday, 411786.
On May 22, 1942 it was sent to 5 Aircraft Depot (AD) for repairs and then assigned to 2 Operational Training Unit (OTU) at Mildura Airfield on October 20, 1942.
On December 1, 1942 it was involved in another accident damaging the wing tip, landing gear and propeller. On January 14, 1943 it was involved in yet another landing accident when the starboard landing gear collapse. Again on March 19, 1943 it was involved in another landing accident.
Walker killed piloting Kittyhawk A29-1 on August 5, 1943 was buried at Mildura Cemetery (Plot C, Row A, Grave 5).
