The grave reads: "411286 Pilot Officer O. J. Channon Royal Australian Air Force 24th April 1942 age 24 greater love". On April 24, 1942 pilot P-40E Kittyhawk A29-43 shot down and crashed near Porebada west of Port Moresby.
