Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 28449. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40N-1-CU Warhawk serial number 42-104687. Disassembled and shipped overseas to New Zealand as part of defense aid. Wartime History Assigned to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) as P-40N Kittyhawk serial number NZ3155. On June 25, 1943 Reassembled at No.1 Aircraft Depot at Hobsonville Airfield. Assigned to 2 Operational Training Unit (2 OTU) at Ohakea Airfield. Postwar At the end of the Pacific War, stored outdoors at the Rukuhia disposal site near Hamilton Airfield. On March 2, 1949 sold to Mr. J. Larsen. Later, acquired by Charles Darby. Later it was sold to Allan Arthur of Albury where it was initially restored, with final restoration to flying status by Pioneer Aero Restorations. Today Registered to Arthur Pipe & Steel Australia Pty Ltd of East Albury as VH-ZOC since September 21, 2006. Painted in the markings of RAF Kittyhawk Mark III serial number FR309 fuselage code GA-Q assigned to 112 Squadron in Italy piloted by Maurice Neville Mathias.
