Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Delivered U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40N Warhawk serial number unknown. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 49th Fighter Group (49th FG) "Fighting 49ers", 7th Fighter Squadron (7th FS) "Screamin' Demons". No known nickname or nose art. This P-40 was abandoned at Dobodura. Wreckage Until the early 1990s, this P-40 remained in situ near Dobodura. During the early 1990s, salvaged (reportedly with P-40N "Suzy" 42-105820) by a New Zealander and moved to Popondetta then shipped to Lae and exported to New Zealand. The whereabouts of this aircraft are unknown. This aircraft might have been offered for sale or sold by Pioneer Aviation as a restoration project. Contribute
