Aircraft History Built by Republic at the Indiana Division of Republic Aviation in Evansville, IN. Constructor Number 377. Delivered to the U.S. Army. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia. During November 1943, reassembled at Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) in Melbourne. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 35th Fighter Group (35th FG), 41st Fighter Squadron (41st FS) "The Flying Buzzsaws". No known nose art or nickname. Assigned to pilot 1st Lt. Erick W. Kyro. Squadron number 75 was painted in white on each side of the fuselage forward of the U.S. star. The tail was painted white an the engine cowling had a white band, with 75 at the 6 o'clock portion. During the first half of 1944, operated from Gusap Airfield. After Kyro's departed the squadron, this plane was likely assigned to another pilot or transfered. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
