Aircraft History Built by Republic at the Indiana Division of Republic Aviation in Evansville, IN. Constructor Number 975. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-47D Thunderbolt serial number 42-23224. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 58th Fighter Group (58th FG), 69th Fighter Squadron (69th FS). Nicknamed "Sleepy Time Gal" with the nose art of a girl painted on the nose cowl on a white backaground. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
