Background
Constituted as the 58th Pursuit Group (58th PG) in U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC). On June 20, 1941 became the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). On May 15, 1942 redesignated 58th Fighter Group (58th FG) and sent overseas as part of the 5th Air Force (5th AF) operating the P-47 Thunderbolt in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).

The 69th Fighter Squadron (69th FS). On October 2, 1942 transfers to the 347th Fighter Group (347th FG).

310th Fighter Squadron (310th FS)
The 310th Fighter Squadron (310th FS) operated the P-47 Thunderbolt.

The 311th Fighter Squadron (311th FS) operated the P-47 Thunderbolt.
