Aircraft History Built by North American Aviation (NAA) in Inglewood. Constructors Number 122-31814. Project Number 96996-N. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-51D-20-NA Mustang serial number 44-64088. Disassembled and protected with Eronel spraypeel coating then embarked aboard HMS Reaper (D82) and shipped across the Pacific to Dregerhaffen Harbor off Finschafen in early March 1945 and reassembled by the Air Service Area Command (Provisional). Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 8th Service Group (8 SrG), 301st Airdrome Squadron (301st Service Squadron) part of the Far East Air Force - Combat Replacement Training Center (FEAF-CRTC) at Nadzab Airfield.
