Aircraft History Built by Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) in Melbourne. Constructors Number 1495. On February 23, 1950 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as CA-18 Mark 23 Mustang serial number A68-170. Assigned to 1 Air Depot (1 AD). On July 20, 1950 assigned to 78 Wing. On September 30, 1951 suffered an engine failure and belly landed at Williamtown Airfield, and was repaired. On November 2, 1953 assigned to 2 Operational Training Unit (2 OTU). On March 12, 1956 assigned to 3 Air Depot (3 AD). Then to ATC on March 7, 1959. During 1964, displayed at Toowoomba Airfield. Afterwards, transfered to RAAF Museum at Point Cook. Restoration Over a ten year period, this Mustang was restored to flying status by RAAF Museum at Point Cook. This Mustang was painted in the markings of P-51D Mustang A68-750 code G-AM code G-AM. On August 28, 1995, Registered on the Australian Civil Register as VH-SVU. Display This Mustang is displayed at RAAF Museum at Point Cook and is occasionally flown at Australian air shows and events.
