Aircraft History
Built by North American in Dallas, Texas. Constructors Number 124-44345. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-51D-25-NT Mustang serial number 44-84489. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia.

Wartime History
On August 6, 1945 assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Mustang A68-750 and reassembled by 6 Air Depot (6 AD). On November 12, 1945 assigned to 77 Squadron with code G-AM. This aircraft operated in Japan, then returned to Australia during November 1948.

On December 1, 1948 assigned to 78 Wing at Williamtown Airfield. On November 30, 1950 assigned to School Land/Air Warfare. On March 15, 1951, converted to components after removal of the engine and used for parts and as a target and the remainder disposed on April 1, 1952.

Storage
Portions were recovered and shipped to the United States and are stored in California pending restoration. Mustang A68-170 is painted in the markings of this aircraft.
