Aircraft History Built by Noorduyn. Constructors Number 561. On July 10, 1944 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as UC-64A Norseman serial number 44-70296. Postwar On February 25, 1946 assigned to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) at Bush Field in Augusta, Georgia. On February 25, 1946 sold as surplus to H. W. Harbican of Whitehaven, TN and registered as NC55860. On May 19, 1958 sold to C-K Foods, Winnipeg and registered in Canada as CF-KVB to the company's president John D. Jenswold. On June 6, 1958 flown to Winnipeg. On September 11, 1958 to Northland Wild Rice, Winnipeg. On June 14, 1960 to Northland Airlines, Winnipeg. Display In March 1981, donated to the National Museum of the United States Air Force (USAF Museum) and displayed as UC-64 Norseman 44-70534 painted in Air Transport Command (ATC) markings as it served in Alaska late in World War II. Norseman History - The Aircraft "Delivered to the USAAF as aircraft No. 44-70296 on July 10, 2022 [sic 1944] and assigned to 2122nd AAF Base Unit (Basic Pilot School, Air Training Command), Greenwood AAF, Mississippi. Flown to the Modification Center, Romulus, Michigan then on to Greenwood arriving July 15, 1944. In October 1944 it went to 20th AAF Base Unit (Fighter Combat Crew Training Station, First Air Force) Richmond, Virginia. Later assigned to Shaw Field and then to the 2143rd AAF Base Unit (Pilot School, ATC) at Tuskagee AAF, Alabama. While at Greenwood Field it was reported involved in a minor accident in Virginia on October 20. Pilot Ross E. Spence. Assigned to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, Bush Field, Augusta, Georgia on February 25, 1946 for disposal as surplus. Sold to H.W. Harbican, Whitehaven, Tennessee and registered as NC55860. Sold to C-K Foods, Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 19, 2022 [sic 1958] and registered to John D. Jenswold (President of C-K Foods), Duluth, Minnesota on May 23. Flown to Winnipeg and registered to C-K Foods on June 6, 1958. Registered to Northland Wild Rice, Winnipeg on September 11, 2021 and then on June 14n 1960 to Northland Airlines, Winnipeg. Registered to Saskatchewan Government Airways, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 3, 2022 then back to Northland Airlines on June 11, 1962. Registered to Chiupka Airways, Lynn Lake, Manitoba on ust 28, 1962. Damaged by fire at the dock in Lynn Lake on October 9, 1962. Purchased from the insurance company by Barney Lamm (Ontario Central Airlines), Kenora, Ontario on June 21, 1965. Rebuilt and registered to Ontario Central on June 8, 1969. Registered to Austin Airways, Toronto, Ontario on March 15, 1979. Bought by Wayne Sturman, Titusville, Florida on April 16, 1979. Donated to the U.S Air Force Museum, Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton Ohio and is now on display painted in the colors of 44-70534 (c/n 799) as it appeared with Air Transport Command in Alaska in 1946.
