Built by Commonwealth Aircraft
Corporation (CAC) during 1945. Constructors Number 1174.
Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as CA-16 Wirraway serial number A20-722.
Postwar
On September 24, 1945 assigned to 1 Air Depot (1 AD). On October 1, 1945 assigned to 7 Air Depot (7 AD). On March 22, 1946 placed into storage. On July 29, 1946 placed into storage at Tocumwal Airfield. On October 15, 1948 in storage at Point Cook Airfield. On
October 22, 1948 assigned to 1 Fighter Training Squadron (1 FTS). On May 8, 1950 this Wirraway was involved an accident but was not damaged. On March 1, 1951 to Point Cook Airfield.
On September 28, 1954 took off piloted by K. C. W. Henry and suffered an accident at Point Cook Airfield pilot was unhurt and afterwards repaired.
On November 8, 1954 piloted by Senior Air Cadet P. J. Scully, A25033 at Point Cook Airfield pilot was unhurt and afterwards repaired.
On August 16, 1955 pilot Snr Air Cadet R. J. R. Plumber, A25230 (uninjured) force landed 15 miles west of Point Cook due to engine failure.
Afterwards, approved for disposal on August 18, 1958 and stricken from charge at Point Cook Airfield after usable parts were removed. Afterwards, offered for sale to the public.
Wreckage
Parts of this Wirraway were purchased from a farmer near Horsham, Victoria. Other parts were purchased including pieces of Wirraway A20-512 and Wirraway A20-731 from Borg Sorenson of Melbourne, Victoria.
Restoration
Between 1984 to 1994 restored. On September 22, 1992 registered as VH-CAC. On June 8, 2002 this aircraft made its first flight after restoration. In 2009 the completed aircraft was purchased by Borg Sorensen of Wheelers Hill, VIC.

This Wirraway is displayed at Old Aeroplane
Company in Tyabb, Victoria.
