Location
Lat 16° 53' 9S Long 145° 45' 19E  Cairns Airfield is located to the north of Cairns in Queensland in Australia.

Wartime History
During the war, based P-40 and P-39 fighters doing anti-submarine patrols and combat patrols. Cairns was used as a base for the RAAF Catalina from No. 11 Squadron and No. 20 Squadrons. Also used to ferry fighter aircraft northward to New Guinea.

Today
Still in use today as Cairns Airport (Cairns International Airport) as a civilian airport of entry with two runways. The first runway is oriented 30/12 measures 3,035' x 60' surfaced with asphalt. The second runway is oriented 33/15 measures 10,489' x 148' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: YBCS IATA: CNS.
