Location Lat 37° 40' 24S Long 144° 50' 36E Tullamarine Airfield is located at an elevation at 434' above sea level to the northwest of Melbourne in Victoria in Australia. Construction In December 1939, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) instructs that a site at Tullamarine be examined for possible development as a second aerodrome. Postwar in 1958 this site was developed into Tullamarine Airfield. Today Still in use today as Melbourne Airport as a civilian airport and airport of entry with two runways. The first is oriented 27/09 measures 7,500' x 148' surfaced with asphalt. The second is oriented 34/16 measures 11,998 x 148' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: YMML IATA: MEL.
