Location
Lat 7° 18' 48S Long 72° 24' 40E  Diego Garcia Airport is located at an elevation of 9' above sea level on the western arm of Diego Garcia. Also known as NAF Diego Garcia. Prewar and during the Pacific War, Diego Garcia was a dependency under the the British Colony of Mauritius. During 1965, the Chagos Islands were detached and became part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT).

Construction
Built 1971 as a military airfield on Diego Garcia.

Today
The single runway is oriented 31/13 measures 1,200' x 200' surfaced with concrete. Airport codes: IATA: NKW ICAO: FJDG.
