Location Lat 24° 32' 38N Long 118° 7' 40E Amoy Airfield is located on Amoy Island (Xiamen Island) near Amoy (Xiamen). Also known as "Amoy Island Airfield". In Chinese, Amoy means "High Ridge" Known to the Japanese as "Takasaki" (High Ridge). Wartime History In October 1938 occupied by the Japanese during the Second SIno-Japanese War. Used by the Japanese until the end official surrender of Japan in September 1945. American missions against Amoy October 7, 1943–May 5, 1945 Postwar During October 1949, occupied by Communist forces. Today Still in use today as Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (Xiàmén Gāoqí Guójì Jīchǎng). Chinese: 厦门高崎国际机场. The single runway is oriented 23/05 measures 11,155' x 148' surfaced with asphalt.
