Location
Lat 24° 28' 47N Long 118° 4' 55E  Amoy / Xiamen 厦门市 is located at sea level on Amoy Island (Xiamen Island) in Fujian Province off the mainland of southeastern China. Borders Amoy Harbor and beyond the Taiwan Strait (Formosa Strait). Xiamen is the atonal pinyin romanization of the characters' pronunciation in Mandarin. Amoy was the English name based on the same name's pronunciation in the Zhangzhou dialect of Hokkien. Known to the Japanese as "Takasaki" (High Ridge).

Wartime History
In May 1938 during the Second Sino-Japanese War, occupied by the Japanese. Amoy was occupied by the Japanese until the end of World War II. Starting in early October 1943 targeted by American aircraft until early May 1945.
