Location
Lat 31°19′51″N 121°30′28″E  Shanghai Jiangwan Airfield 上海江湾机场 was located in the Yangpu District of northeast Shanghai in China. Also known as Kiangwan Airfield or Kiang Wan Airfield or Jiangwan Airfield. Postwar known as Shanghai Jiangwan Airport until closed in June 1994 then redeveloped as New Jiangwan City 新江湾城 in Shanghai Province in the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Wartime History
During the Second Sino Japanese War and Pacific War, used by the Japanese. By July 1945, the largest concentration of Japanese planes in China were located at Kiangwan Airfield. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945.

American missions against Shanghai Kiangwan (Kiang Wan)
January 17, 1945– July 24, 1945

Postwar
In late 1945, Shanghai Jiangwan Airfield remained in use as a military airfield. It became the headquarters of the 1st Combat Cargo Group (1st CCG) to airlift Nationalist Chinese soldiers in and out of the Shanghai area. During October 1945 the Shanghai Air Depot was established by the Air Technical Service Command to oversee the deposition of Allied and captured Japanese planes in China. Also used by Air Transport Command (ATC). By December 31, 1947 all American personnel withdrew.

On May 27, 1949, at the conclusion of the Shanghai Campaign controlled by the Communist People's Liberation Army (PLA) when they occupied Shanghai.

Today
In June 1994 closed as an airport. On April 30, 1997 the overgrown land area was turned over to Shanghai and was redeveloped as New Jiangwan City 新江湾城.
