Location Lat 22° 19' 29N Long 87° 6' 27E Dudhkundi Airfield was located at Dudhkundi roughly 12 miles southeast of Jhargram in the Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal State in northeast India. Construction This airfield was dsigned for use by B-24 Liberators, but in 1943 it was then designated for B-29 Superfortresses for the planned deployment of the United States Army Air Forces 20th Bomber Command to India. Advance Army Air Forces echelons arrived December 1943 and thousands of Indians labourers were used to upgrade the facility for Superfortress operations by July 1944 as one of four B-29 bases in India.
