Location Lat 23° 28' 27N Long 87° 25' 39E Panagarh Airfield is located at 240' above sea level to the north of Panagarh in West Bengal State of India. Wartime History Panagarh Airfield based the U.S. Army Airways Communications System and Eastern Air Depot. During April 1943 until January 1944 based two squadrons of B-24 Liberators from the 7th Bombardment Group (7th BG). American units based at Panagarh 7th BG, 492th BS (B-24) Bishnupur arrives April 25, 1943–January 22, 1944 departs Madhaiganj 7th BG, 436th BS (B-24) Bishnupur arrives Septeber 25, 1943–December 13, 1943 departs Madhaiganj Today Still in use today as Panagarh Airport, a small airport and military base for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The single runway is oriented 33/15 measures 9,000' x 150' surfaced with asphalt. Airport code: ICAO: VEPH.
