Location
Lat 0° 31' 51N Long 120° 37' 8E Ambesia Airfield is located at sea level near Ambesia on the Minahassa Peninsula on the southern coast of the northern arm of Sulawesi (Celebes). Prewar and during the Pacific War in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today part of Central Sulawesi Province (Sulawesi Tengah) in Indonesia.
Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the war. Starting in the middle of September 1944 attacked by U.S. aircraft until the end of 1944.
