(USN) Carrier aircraft from USS Intrepid (CV-11) strike 2A including carrier aircraft from VT-18 drop 2,000 pound bombs Ie Shima Airfield runway and hit nearby hangars, shops and buildings.

April 16, 1945
(U.S. Army) After preparatory bombardment by warships and aircraft U.S. Army, 77th Infantry Division lands on southern Ie Shima. The landings were supported by U.S. Army artillery fire from Minna Shima to the south.
