Location Lat 139° 55' 0" E Long 35° 24' 0" N Kisarazu Airfield is located at Kisarazu in Chiba Prefecture on Honshū in Japan. Borders Tokyo Bay to the west and Tokyo to the northwest. Construction Wartime History During early August 1945, the Japanese Navy conducted test flights of the J9Y Kikka jet prototype. On August 7, 1945 J9Y Kikka Prototype 1 made a successful test flight and became the first jet to fly in Japan. August 11, 1945, the same jet made another test flight with two rocket assisted take off (RATO) units installed under the wings but suffered a crash landing. Postwar References Contribute
