Location Lat 34° 59' 0" N Long 139° 51' 0" E Located at Tateyama on Nojima Cape in Chiba Province bordering Uraga Channel (Uraga Kaikyo) to the west. To the north is Tokyo Bay and Tokyo. Tateyama Wan is a landmark near the base. Also known as "Tateyama Naval Air Base". Construction Built prewar as part of Tateyama Naval Air Base, includes Tateyama Airfield and Tateyama Seaplane Base. The airfield is located on approximately 220 acres. Two runways form a "T" shape, one runway is 3444' x 410' orientated east to west. The other runway is 2296' x 492' orientated north to south. The airfield has complete repair facilities, fuel and part storage. Wartime History Tateyama was major wartime Japanese base.
