Location
Lat 5° 18' 3N Long 115° 15' 1E  Timbalai Airfield is located on the western coast of Labuan Island, inland and parallel to the coast, south of Layangan Bay in Sabah State in Malaysia.

Wartime History
Japanese airfield, bombed and unservicable from bombing, and Japanese attempts to make the airfield unservicable by erecting barricades and driving stakes into the ground, plus heavy rains filled bomb craters.

During early June 1945, occupied by the Australian Army. During October 1945, the 13th Wireless Section (Heavy) "A" Corps Signals had strung electric wires alongside the former runway. On December 8, 1945, Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten's addressed troops stationed at this airfield.

Today
Still in use today as a dual use military and civilian airport. The single runway is oriented 32/14 measuring 7,546 x 148 surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: WBKL IATA: LBU
