December 8, 1941
(IJN) Japanese carrier aircraft from Ryujo attack Davao and Davao Harbor, but find no American ships.  One aircraft ditches due to engine trouble, its crew is rescued.

December 19, 1941
(IJN) Japan warships supported by carrier aircraft from Ryujo enter Davao Gulf to occupy the area.

December 20, 1941
(IJN) Destroyer Amatsukaze lands Japanese forces at Davao, supported by aircraft from Ryujo and quickly occupies the city.

(FEAF) Nine B-17s from the 19th Bombardment Group took off from Batchelor Field near Darwin on a mission to bomb shipping in Davao Harbor and afterwards land at Del Monte Airfield.

(FEAF) During the night of 24/25 December, three B-17's take off from Del Monte to bomb Davao Airfield and shipping in Davao Gulf then proceed to Batchelor Field.

(U.S. Army) 24th Infantry Division advanced from Digos occupied Davao, meeting only scattered resistance. With the liberation of Davo, the last major port held by the Japanese in the Philippines was liberated.
