Returning from a mission damaged, B-24D "Twin Nifty's" 42-40348 exploded and crashed near Angoram. Afterwards villagers retrieved and buried three bodies near Angoram mission.
December 1, 1943
(5th AF) After a bombing mission over Wewak, intercepted by a Ki-61 Tony shooting down B-24D "Ten Knights in a Bar Room" 42-72806 to crash near Angoram with the tail section landing a half mile away.
