Location Lat 4° 4' 0S Long 144° 4' 0E Angoram is located on the north bank of the Sepik River inland from the north coast of New Guinea. Also spelled "Angorum". Along the Sepik River to the east is Marienburg (Marienberg) and to the west is Timbunke. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Angoram District, East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar Angoram mission was established at this location. Wartime History During December 1942 occupied by the Japanese Army. During the middle of 1943 until early 1944 attacked by Allied aircraft. On August 17, 1943 B-24D "Twin Nifty's" 42-40348 exploded and crashed nearby and afterwards villagers retrieved and buried three bodies near Angoram mission. On December 1, 1943 returning from a mission, B-24D "Ten Knights in a Bar Room" 42-72806 crashed near the village. Angoram was occupied by the Japanese until the end of the Pacific War.
