Location Lat -8.8580556 Long 141.2594444 Bensbach Airfield is located near Bensbach in New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War, part of the Western District in the Territory of Papua. Today located in Western Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Construction Built during the late 1970s by the Bensbach Wild Life Lodge. Richard Leahy adds: "Constructed during the late 1970s by the Bensbach Wild Life Lodge. At that time the Lodge was owned by Bob Bates (currently Trans Niugini Tours in Mt. Hagen) and Brian Brumley. Brian did all of the construction of the lodge and hands on management of the lodge until he passed away about ten years ago in Cairns. Brian built the strip. It is still operating and is a good one.
