Location Madang Seaplane Base is located at Madang Harbor across from the goverment jetty of Madang Town. Wartime History After the Allied liberation of Madang on April 24, 1944 Madang Harbor was used by Allied flyingboats as a landing area. During late 1944, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) 8 Communication Unit (8 CU) arrived from Goodenough and operated Catalina A24-92 from Madang Harbor. Also, 111 Air Sea Rescue Flight (111 ASRF) operated from both Madang Airfield and Madang Seaplane Base until 18 March 1946 when it moved to Port Moresby and was disbanded. Contribute
