Location
Lat 14°16′46″S Long 170°42′02″W  Tafuna Airfield is located south of Pago Pago on Tutuila Island. Known as Tafuna, Tutuila or Pago Pago Airfield.

Construction
Prior to the Pacific War, the U.S. Navy (USN) began building an airfield at this location as part of U.S. Naval Station Tutuila - Samoa Defense Group Area. By March 17, 1942 two runways were completed with expansion and improvement ongoing. Later, facilities a large maintenance hanger was added.

Today
Still in use today as a civilian airport operated by the American Samoa Government. Known as "Pago Pago International Airport" or simply "Pago Pago Airport". The airport had two runways. The first is oriented 23/05 and measures 10,000' x 150' surfaced with asphalt. The second is oriented 26/08 and mesures 3,800' x 100' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: IATA: PPG, ICAO: NSTU, FAA LID: PPG. Served by Samoa Air and Inter Island Airwas.
