| Location Lat 1° 25' 1N Long 103° 52' 4E Seletar Airfield located on the northeastern coast of Singapore. To the north is the Johore Strait and beyond is the southern tip of Malaysia. To the west is Sembawang Airfield. Construction Built prewar as a single runway for use as a civilian airport, the first landing ground on Singapore. Prewar Seletar Airport was the first landing ground on Singapore and was the main airport for Singapore between 1930 to June 12, 1937 when Kallang Airport opened. Wartime History During World War II, used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) during the defense of Singapore.
