Location
Lat 25° 4' 11N Long 121° 33' 9E  Matsuyama Airfield is located at an elevation of 18' above sea level in Taihoku (Taipei) at the northern edge of Taiwan (Formosa) in the Northern Taiwan Region. Borders the Kiirun River (Kiirun-Ka) to the north and east. Also known as Taihoku Airfield or postwar as Songshan Airport or Sungshan Airport. Today known as Taipei Songshan Airport.

Construction
Built during 1936 by the Japanese as a military airfield known as Matsuyama Airfield or Taihoku Airfield.

Wartime History
Matsuyama Airfield was used by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. During 1945, targeted by American fighters and bombers.

Postwar
During 1946, used by the over by the Republic of China Air Force. On April 16, 1950 became a dual military and civilian airport. By the 1970s, the airport had become overcrowded and Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (Chaing Kai Shek Airport) was built further to the west.

Today
Officially known as Taipei Songshan Airport / Songshan Air Force Base. The single runway is oriented 28/10 measures 8,578' x 197' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: RCSS IATA: TSA.
