American units based at Barbers Point U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) 318th FG, 19th FS (P-40) Bellows Field arrives February 9, 1943–May 30, 1943 departs Kipapa Field U.S. Navy (USN) VD-4 NAS North Island November 1943 - May 1944 to Eniwetok VBF-100 (F4U) established January 2, 1945–February 20, 1946 disbanded VF-20 (Hellcat) NAS Pearl Harbor arrives April 21, 1944–June 15, 1944 departs NAS Kaneohe Bay Today During the 1990s, closed during Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).
