Location Luganville Seaplane Base was located in Segond Channel off Luganville (Santo) on the southeast of Espiritu Santo. To the south is Aore Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in New Hebrides. Today located in Sanma Province in Vanuatu. Construction The U.S. Navy (USN) built a seaplane ramp and tower were located at Belchif Point. Seaplanes took off and landed in Segond Channel. Wartime History During the Pacific War, used by the U.S. Navy (USN) seaplanes and flying boats. During the middle of August 1942 seaplane tender USS Mackinac (AVP-13) supports Luganville Seaplane Base. American units based at Lunganville Seaplane Base VP-12 (PBY Catalina) VP-44 (PBY Catalina) VP-54 (PBY Calalina) Carney Field July 31-August 1 - September 1944 VP-91 (PBY) Pearl Harbor September 13, 1942– Today Disused as a seaplane base since the Pacific War.
