Jakarta (Ancol) Netherlands Field of Honour Jakarta | Java Indonesia
Location
Lat -6.1183, Long 106.85443  Jakarta (Ancol) Netherlands Field of Honour is located at the Ancol (Antjol) recreation centre in north Jakarta on the northern coast of western Java in Indonesia. Also known as Memorial Cemetery Ancol. Most burials are in mass graves referenced by numbers commemorating the dead.

History
This Field of Honour covers what was once a mangrove swamp where hundreds of men and women were executed by the Japanese during the World War II. In addition, many of the British and Australian casualties were originally buried in mass graves in Soembang and these were reburied in Ancol in 1950. There are now 131 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war commemorated here, 73 of which are unidentified. The 58 identified officers and men are also commemorated on the Plaques of the Missing at Jakarta War Cemetery.

The identified graves include Frans Kramer, Chairman of the General Agricultural Syndicate who became the head of the underground resistance in western Java until betrayed, arrested by the Imperial Japanese Army Kempeitai (Military Police). When he refused to cooperate, he was tortured and died July 21, 1943
