Location
Wewak War Cemetery was located at Cape Moem (Moem) on the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as Moem Cemetery or AIF War Cemetery. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Territory of New Guinea. Today, located in the Wewak District of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Wartime History
On May 22, 1945 the Australian Army 2/8 Infantry Battalion captured the Cape Moem area. Afterwards, the Wewak War Cemetery was established at this location for Australian war dead from the Wewak campaign. Once established, the Australian Army 7 War Graves Unit with help from from the Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) plus native laborers. Used for burials until late October 1945. Later, the graves were exhumed and transported to Lae War Cemetery. Also know as the "Moem Cemetery" or "AIF War Cemetery".
