Burma: Hard fighting is developing in Waw area, NE of Pegu, as enemy continues infiltration westward from Sittang R
SOUTHWEST PACIFIC AREA (SWPA, 5th Air Force): Force landed is C-53 41-20066 near Vansittart Bay southwest of Truscott.
KLM: Crashed is DC-3 "Emoe" PH-AFZ (died, prisoner and missing).
USAAF: Promoted to the rank of Major General George C. Kenney.
Philippines: Japanese amphibious force, consisting of a bn of infantry and a FA battery, sails from Olongapo, Luzon, for Mindoro.
Australia: U.S. Task Force bound for New Caledonia reaches Australia.
U.S. Navy: USS Langley (AV-3) with 32 fighters on board is sunk by Japanese planes en route to Java.
