In Australia at Terowie Railroad Station (Terowie Railway Station) in South Australia, General Douglas MacArthur made his famous remarks: "The President of the United States ordered me to break through the Japanese lines and proceed from Corregidor to Australia for the purpose, as I understand it, of organizing an American offensive against Japan, the primary purpose of which is the relief of the Philippines. I came through and I shall." The line "I shall return" became his rally and promise to the people of the Philippines to liberate them from Japanese occupation.
