FRIDAY, 10 JULY 1942 ALASKA (11th AF): One B-24 aborts a reconnaissance mission to Kiska due to weather. PACIFIC OCEAN AREA (POA, 7th AF): Ground echelon of the 11th Bombardment Group leaves Hawaii for the South Pacific aboard USS Argonne (AS-10). USN: Kaiser Shipyard in Vancouver, Washington State laid down LST-1 Class Tank Landing Ships (LSTs) including USS LST-454 and USS LST-456.
