B-24's on reconnaissance attack a small vessel
WNW of Cape Henpan. B-17s, P-40s, and P-38s pound Munda Airfield and Vila Airfield. Lost is B-17E "Madame X" 41-2525 (MIA).
SOUTHWEST PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS (Fifth Air Force)
Two B-24's bomb the town area of Manokwari and Nabire Airfield. A lone B-17 bombs Unea Island.
USN: USS Greenling (SS-213) damages Japanese oiler Akebono Maru en route to Truk, 02°17'N, 145°38'E.
