MONDAY, 3 SEPTEMBER 1945
RAAF: Crashed is Beaufort A9-622 (KIA) dropping surrender leaflets west of Wewak.
U. S. Army: General Tomoyuki Yamashita officially surrendered all Japanese forces in the Philippines during a ceremony inside the U. S. Ambassador's Residence at Camp John Hay. In attendance are Lt. General Arthur Percival and Lt. General Jonathan M. Wainwright who both survived captivity as Prisoners Of War (POWs).
