U.S. Navy: Japanese Daihatsu landing barge led by Col. Eto Daihachi and his staff surrenders the Japanese garrison on Yap aboard USS Tillman (DD-641) to Captain J. L. Wyatt, Atoll Commander Ulithi

Royal Navy: HMS Sussex (96) enters Singapore Harbor as part of "Operation Tiderace" and after anchoring Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) 7th Area Army commander General Seishirō Itagaki was brought aboard to sign the instrument of surrender of all Japanese forces under his command on Singapore or Malaysia.
