Ensign Herbert R. Hein, Jr., AOM3c Joseph D. Strahl and S1c Marshal E. "Windy" Windham crew of TBD-1 Devastator 1515 ditched February 1, 1942.
JAAF: Ki-21 Sally transporting a Japanese surrender delegation lands at Penfoei Airfield. While landing, the right undercarriage collapsed but the crew and passengers are unhurt including Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Lt. General Kunitaro Yamada commander 48th Division who will surrender tomorrow.
