FEAF: B-32 "Harriet's Chariot" 42-108543 took off from Yontan Airfield on the first leg of the flight back to the United States and will be scrapped.
Australian Army: 6th Division embarked aboard HMAS Katoomba (J204/M204) and are withdrawn from Wewak.
RAN: Cambrian Salvor assisted by 140 Japanese Prisoners Of War (POW) and Japanese salvage tug Hozu Maru successfully raises partially sunk Naruto (Japanese Tanker No. 5301) from Karavia Bay tows the vessel into Simpson Harbor near Rabaul.

The Conference of Korean Communist Party Members and Enthusiasts in the Five Northwestern Provinces meeting results in the establishment of the North Korea Bureau of the Communist Party of Korea Kim Il sung emerges as the leader in Pyongyang.
