Gun History
Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Type 88) serial number 1252.

Wartime History
During early July 1942 this gun was transported to Guadalcanal and emplaced as part of a battery near Lunga Point Airfield to provide anti-aircraft defense for the area. On August 7, 1942 captured by the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) after their landing at Red Beach on Guadalcanal.

Today
Since the 1970s, this gun was moved outside the entrance of Henderson Field (Honiara International Airport) outside the International Terminal with the gun barrel at a 45° angle.

Justin Taylan adds:
"The breech of this gun is clearly marked '1252'. The top of the barrel is stamped with '4' and '120' seporately.
